The chicken breast is washed and drained. Then increase with a knife, season with salt and pepper. Grease with a little oil and put on the grill for 30-35 minutes, during which time it rotates once more.

Israel is a young country without its own culinary tradition. It is located in the Mediterranean area, but also to the Middle East, bringing together Jewish populations from all over and Arabs who have been in the area for so long. So the food of the place is rich and motley, with influences everywhere.
It would be difficult for me to choose traditional Israeli dishes, but I will tell you about the most common food on the tables of the locals, whether we are talking about the one bought on the street or cooked in the houses of the housewives.
For street food the most representative is falafel with tahini, tomatoes and pickles and hummus. For falafel, I leave the dried chickpeas to soak for 24 hours and then rinse it. Finely chop it in the mincer with onion, garlic, parsley and coriander. Season it with ground cumin, salt, pepper and add baking soda and a little flour to help bind. I mix everything very well and let the flavors blend for about two hours. Then I make the meatballs and fry them in an oil bath.
This is a common food in Israel and beyond, which I also have on the newer menu. It consists of chicken hearts, chicken liver, boneless chicken legs and cut into small pieces, onion, shaved-he-hanout spice. Put everything in the pan and put it on the stick or eat it directly with a fork. Season with tahini on top.
Couscous is very common on Israeli tables. We had a tradition of having a family couscous every Tuesday. I made it with pumpkin, kale, onion, zucchini, carrot. All the vegetables except the pumpkin are cut into large pieces, except the onion which is left whole, and put in the pot with water, olive oil, tomatoes cut in half, turmeric, salt, pepper and pieces of chicken. Bring to a simmer over low heat for about an hour and 20 minutes. A rich soup is obtained. Separately prepare the couscous: a glass of couscous and a glass of hot salted water. Close and allow 15 minutes to absorb all the water. The pumpkin cut into pieces is grilled or baked. Place the couscous in the plate and place the chicken soup with vegetables and meat and the pumpkin pieces on top.
It is a kind of fried pate, of Tunisian origin, but very widespread in Israel. Vegetable salad with chicken breast
This dinner is being prepared quite quickly and you will be impressed by the success it will have!
Preparation time: 10 min.
Cooking time: 25 min.
700 calories, 25 g fat per serving
- 400 g canned chickpeas
- 1 small red onion, finely chopped
- 1 cucumber, peeled and cut into pieces
- 4 tomatoes, cut into pieces
- 6 tablespoons vinaigrette with mustard
- 6 tablespoons fresh, chopped coriander
- 500 g chicken breast
- 2 teaspoons curry powder
- 4 digits
- 1 green salad
1 Mix chickpeas, onions, cucumbers, tomatoes, coriander and vinaigrette. Sprinkle the meat with curry powder and grill for 10 minutes on each side, until completely penetrated.
2 Brown the buns cut in half. Place 1 bun on plates, top with lettuce, vegetable mixture and hot chicken breast strips. Serve immediately.
Grilled chicken skewers in yogurt and grilled vegetables
When you feel the need for a simple, quick and easy to digest snack, you can improvise something very good from a piece of chicken (boneless breast or leg) and a few vegetables.
In larger quantities, it can also be an appetizer for a meal with more guests.
Ingredients (4 servings)
600 gr chicken breast, boned
vegetables: 1-2 bell peppers, 1-2 zucchini, an onion
Marinade: a cup of yogurt, 1/2 lime, 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
olive oil, salt, pepper
1.Chicken breast, cut into thin strips, marinate in a mixture of yogurt, lime juice and chopped parsley. Add salt and pepper, keep cold for a quarter of an hour, then stick in skewer sticks (which are good to keep in water beforehand).
2.Cut the vegetables into pieces, sprinkle with olive oil, mix with a little chopped parsley, salt and pepper.
3.Use a hob or grill pan in this case, a Teflon one is very good.
Fry the vegetables first and let them heat until the chicken is ready.
The skewers will need about 5 minutes to be ready. The grill should be well heated, otherwise it will stick.
If you have any yogurt left, you can make a quick sauce with some garlic and maybe a chopped chili. But it's very good and some soy sauce, the skewers aren't fancy :)

CHICKEN BREAST, COUSCOUS AND PESTO SAUCE
I hear the question more and more: & # 8222What can I do with a chicken breast? & # 8221. This is after most of us got bored of the eternal grilled chicken breast, sometimes too penetrated, too dry, too drowning & # 8230 However, chicken breast remains one of the keys to a more balanced, lighter diet.
Hence the need for imagination, to replace boredom with tasty and appetizing dishes that do not turn our meal into a routine. Below, another example of chicken prepared in a maximum of 15 minutes, with an ingredient less used in Romanian kitchens.
Ingredient. For 2 servings. Chicken breast & # 8211 a piece of couscous granules & # 8211 200 g bird soup & # 8211 a cup of butter & # 8211 20 g pesto sauce & # 8211 a tablespoon of juice from a quarter of a lemon a few arugula leaves.
What is couscous? Granules of corn starch and wheat flour or, in the very traditional version, only of durum wheat, the one also used for the production of very good quality pasta. Originally from the Arab countries, it is very often used as a garnish for meat, fish, vegetables with sauce, etc. It is cooked or steamed. I chose the first option here.
First I heated the soup. When it boiled, I put the piece of butter and let it melt. Then I put the couscous granules, mixed and put on low heat. I left until it started to swell.
Then I stopped the fire and covered the vessel. From time to time, I mixed the granules to see if they had absorbed all the liquid from the pan. When it was ready, it showed as you can see below. It takes a little care and the right amount of liquid, so that the granules do not absorb more than they should, so that everything does not turn into porridge. The couscous granules are good to stay & # 8222al dente & # 8221.
Meanwhile, I cut the chicken breast into pieces of a suitable thickness and grilled them, then I cut them into strips suitable for the fork.
Then, in a fairly large bowl, I put the pesto sauce and lemon juice. I added the chicken breast pieces and all the couscous. I mixed well, taking care to leave the couscous quite airy, not to make a paste. At the end, I put the few sour arugula leaves. I didn't need salt because it already had bird soup.
Tempting and simple enough? That's what I say. The chicken breast borrows from the moisture of the other ingredients and becomes really nice. What's more, everything is very fast, you don't dirty a lot of dishes and you know exactly what you're eating. By the way, it is good to know that, like all other cereal foods, couscous has a high carbohydrate index (73%), so it would be good to eat it in small and controlled amounts if you follow a diet that has considering these parameters.
